How Does Least Cost Call Routing Work?

A number of large telecommunications companies have networks that can carry telephone calls both within the UK and internationally. By arranging for your calls to be routed through one of these Carriers you benefit because these Carriers offer lower call rates than BT due to available capacity on their networks. We arrange for all this to happen automatically for each call you make on your existing telephone line. No need for special codes or new equipment. Everything happens automatically in the telephone exchange.

How Much do I Save?

Each company is different in how it uses the phone. This makes it difficult to summarise how much money you will save. The exact saving will depend on where, when and how long you call them for, and which tariff options you may currently subscribe to. But compared with National standard daytime rates, you should save over 40% on local calls and between 50% and 90% on National and International Calls.

How Does Least Cost Call Routing Compare with Capped Calls?

Call capping offers significant reductions in call costs for many business customers compared to normal rates, because of its maximum call charge cap of 10p for calls to UK landlines, as well as it’s capped rates to mobiles and to International destinations if you call spend is over a certain amount.

Although this may seem a better option, as we have no maximum call charge cap. In reality, statistics show that 99% of local and national calls dialed through us are less than 10p anyway. because our daytime call costs are significantly lower than National standard rates and that there is no call setup fee.

How Reliable are the calls?

All calls are routed through our services directly using a service called Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS), where your calls are automatically transferred to an alternative network at the local or region exchange level. This means that changing to us will not disrupt your telephone service in any way at all. The quality of calls with us is normally exactly the same as if you had dialed the destination with your existing carrier.

Do I need to change any equipment or telephone numbers?

All your existing telephone and data transmission equipment are compatible. You will not need to change your telephone number.

Do I still pay line rental?

You will continue to pay BT for your quarterly line rental, as well as any BT services you are using such as call waiting.

Is there a monthly contract or charge?
